How much do you charge for Male Waxing?
Please see Waxing Prices

What should I do, or not do, before I come for a male waxing?
Please do not clipper or shave the area before you have a male waxing, as we need at least half an inch - or about one centimetre’s growth - to do the waxing.

Does male waxing hurt?
If it's done properly, not as much as you might think! You should make sure you stay relaxed.

If you are tense, the hair follicle closes and the wax doesn't reach the root. Immediately after male waxing, we will apply gentle pressure to the area with our hands; this confuses the nerve endings and stops the pain.

The more often you get a male waxing treatment, the more accustomed you'll grow to the experience and the less it will hurt. Some people have been known to take a paracetamol before being waxed.

The latest waxes can provide the perfect removal of all hair types, even on sensitive areas. They share the unique ‘shrink wrapping’ abilities of older hot waxes but are lower in temperature, easier to apply and stay flexible as they cool.

This makes them much more comfortable and an ideal choice for removing short, coarse and stubborn hairs anywhere on your body.

Are there other ways to remove hair from my body?
Yes, but shaving or using a depilatory cream, only removes the hair at the surface rather than from the root. Within a few days, the hair can be seen at the surface and your hair will tend to grow back in a rough stubble.

If you have those areas repeatedly waxed over long periods of time, often the hair re-growth is much softer and finer.

Which areas of my body can you wax for me?
We can remove hair from your back, chest, shoulders, stomach, abdomen, arms, underarms and legs. We can also do male intimate waxing (the infamous "back, sack and crack") as well as removing hair from your buttocks, or giving you a Boyzilian or a Hollywood waxing.

What sort of male waxing do you do?
That depends on which area of your body you would like hair to be removed from. If you would like hair removed from your back, chest, shoulders, stomach, abdomen, arms, underarms and legs,we use warm wax using wax strips.

For male intimate waxing (back, sack and crack, buttocks, a Boyzilian or Hollywood waxing) we use hot wax applied with a spatula.

What is warm waxing?
Warm waxing, or strip waxing, is used to remove hair from your back, chest, shoulders, stomach, abdomen, arms, underarms and legs.

The warm wax is applied to your body with a spatula, then a strip of cloth is smoothed down on top of the wax, then ripped off quickly, taking the hair with it.

And what is hot waxing?
Hot waxing, also known as hard waxing, peelable waxing, film waxing or non-strip waxing is used to remove short, coarse and stubborn hairs anywhere on your body.

Hot wax is applied to your body with a spatula, it is left to cool slightly, then ripped off quickly (this time without applying a strip of cloth), taking the hairs with it.

The hot wax is ideal for sensitive areas as it doesn't stick to your skin. It is very important that the skin in the area being waxed is kept taught to avoid any bruising.

To help with this we will ask you to change positions during the treatment or to use your hands to pull down on your skin.

Tell me more about the male Boyzilian waxing
Brazilian waxing is named after Brazil, the country in which it originated. It was first used for women wanting to wear thong bikinis when they were the latest fashion.

Today it is preferred for a clean, sexy look. Male Brazilian waxing is also known as the infamous 'back, sack and crack' or Boyzilian.

The Boyzilian involves the removal of unwanted hair from the groin, penis, scrotum and buttocks. You can have as much or as little hair removed as you wish.

That depends on which areas you would like to be waxed, how hairy you are and therefore how long it takes. To give you a guide, have a look at our Waxing Prices.

Do you play music during the male waxing treatment?
You have a choice! We can wax you with background music or relaxing sounds. We have an iPod Dock with a wide choice of soothing music or sounds from nature (for example waves, surf, birds, a forest, tropical rain or a thunderstorm). Alternatively, we can do the waxing in silence if you prefer.

I am interested in a back, sack and crack waxing. Do I have to be naked?
No. You can keep your shirt on but the areas which you would like to be waxed do need to be uncovered.

Are there any after-effects of being waxed?
Sometimes slight reddening may appear to the skin but this is completely normal and will fade in a few hours. Some people experience in-grown hairs, red bumps, and minor bleeding.

This is more likely to occur when areas with thick hair are waxed, especially the first few times when follicles are strongest.

In-grown hairs can be reduced by exfoliating regularly and applying an astringent or a solution of both astringent and oil (typically baby oil).

How can I avoid in-grown hairs?
Exfoliate your skin thoroughly to remove dead skin cells. You should moisturise your skin every day. If your skin is supple, new hair growth can break through more easily and that will reduce the risk of in-growing hairs and infection.

What should I do after being waxed?
You should use body scrub when you shower to help exfoliate the areas which have been waxed. This helps to prevent in-grown hairs. Exfoliation involves the removal of the oldest dead cells on the skin's outermost surface, and has been used for many years to help maintain the skin.

So what is an ingrown hair?
For various reasons, sometimes when a new hair grows it doesn’t quite break through the skin properly so it will usually either curl back on itself or grow sideways under the skin.

In-grown hairs can be painful to remove, but you are usually better off without them. A few days after your waxing appointment, gently exfoliate your skin every other day. You can use exfoliating gloves and PFB which you can buy from a chemist or online.

There are two ways of exfoliating: Mechanical Exfoliation and Chemical Exfoliation....

Tell me about Mechanical Exfoliation first...
Mechanical Exfoliation involves physically scrubbing the skin with an abrasive such as microfibre cloths, adhesive exfoliation sheets, micro-bead facial scrubs, crepe paper, crushed apricot kernel or almond shells, sugar crystals, salt crystals or pumice.

There are also abrasive materials like sponges, loofahs, brushes or you could just use your fingernails. Facial scrubs are available over-the-counter at a chemist. People with dry skin should avoid exfoliants which include a significant portion of pumice.

However, pumice is considered a good material to exfoliate the skin on your feet.

And what about Chemical Exfoliation?
Chemical exfoliants include scrubs containing salicylic acid, glycolic acid, fruit, enzyme, citric acid or malic acid which may be applied in high concentrations by a dermatologist.

You can get it in lower concentrations in over-the-counter products. Chemical exfoliation may involve the use of products that contain alpha hydroxyl acids (AHAs), beta hydroxyl acids (BHAs), or enzymes that act to loosen the glue-like substance that holds the cells together.

This type of exfoliation is recommended for people being treated for acne.

Is there anything which would stop me from being waxed?
You should not have male waxing if you are taking Retin-A, Renova, Differin or Isotretinoin. These medications tend to weaken the skin and tearing of the skin may occur when the wax is removed.

Waxing should not be done on areas of your skin which have warts, pimples, moles or rashes or on skin that is irritated, chapped or suffering from sunburn. You should not get any areas waxed where the skin is peeling or broken or the area has varicose veins.

And is there anything that I shouldn’t do after being waxed
Sweating may cause the hair follicles to become infected (this is called Folliculitis), so do not:

- expose your skin to sunlight or sun beds for 48 hours
- have a sauna or any heat treatment for 24 hours
- take a bath or shower for 24 hours
- do any exercise for 24 hours
- apply moisturisers or body lotions (other than those recommended by your therapist) for 24 hours.

Waxing History

Removing hair from the body is certainly not new. A smooth and hairless body was the standard of beauty, youth and innocence for many young people in Ancient Egypt.

Later, the Greeks adopted this ideal of smoothness as we can see from Greek sculptures.

A History of Waxing

Swedish Holistic Massage

Swedish or holistic (whole of body) massage uses several styles of long, flowing strokes which makes it ideal for relaxation.

The basic strokes are effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping) and friction (cross fiber).

We use softer strokes on the bonier and more delicate parts of the body, and stronger strokes where there is thicker muscle coverage.
